Located in a former warehouse in lower Manhattan, the new WebMD offices were inspired by the client’s vision of blending natural beauty with high technology. The main challenge was a lack of daylight throughout most of the space; the design team responded with a predominantly indirect lighting solution. Blue light bathing a beaded curtain in the central “garden” space suggests north sky light, small aperture downlights sparkle like stars and the circular light coves establish a design motif repeated throughout the space. Well-balanced lighting in workspaces is complimented with contrasting finishes in amenities areas, creating a lively work environment for employees.
