Lighting Designer Position
One Lux Studio is a prominent 25-person architectural lighting design firm located in the heart of Manhattan. Our team of talented professionals is dedicated to creating innovative lighting solutions that transform spaces and enhance experiences. We are seeking a Lighting Designer to join our team and contribute to our continued success.
Position Summary
As a lighting designer, you will gain valuable exposure to all aspects of our profession while building your experience preparing design presentations and project documentation. You will be mentored by our experienced staff of designers.
Collaboration lies at the core of our approach, and as a Lighting Designer, you’ll participate in internal design charettes and development of design concepts.

Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to:
- Collaborate in the development of design concepts with staff, partners, and clients.
- Prepare presentation materials to explain these concepts to our clients.
- Perform lighting calculations, build mockups, and evaluate samples.
- Prepare project documentation including drawings, details, fixture specifications, schedules, etc.
- Review construction-phase submittals and questions from contractors.
- Perform field visits during construction to evaluate the work, direct the aiming of lights, and the programming of control systems.
Qualifications
- Excellent design sensibility.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Strong communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational skills, and ability to prioritize competing demands.
- Works well with others.
- Bachelors’ degree in Architectural or Theatrical Lighting Design, Architecture, or Interior Design.
- 0-2 years’ experience in the field of architectural lighting design.
- Knowledge of lighting terminology, technology, and calculations including AGI.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Suite.

Base salary: $55,000/yr. – $75,000/yr. (Exact compensation commensurate with ability and experience.) This position pays overtime.
